Never pay full price for your Great Wolf Lodge vacation!
Why would I pay full price when, if you wait long enough, your desired rooms will go on sale! Twice a year (usually in fall and spring), Great Wolf Lodge offers 40% off select room stays on select days. These are mostly mid-week stays and do not collide with holidays. Notice, it’s always “save up to” a certain price. Parks know the high days, season changes, and low days based on occupancy from the year before. They use this data to try and entice people to come when they otherwise wouldn’t have people. They up the rates when they know people will be there. It’s a supply and demand thing and they are GOOD at it.
Tip 1: How to beat the system. A sacrifice has to be made. Either you pull your kids out of school, or you pay more money for days (like a weekend) when they aren’t in school. Some school districts have inservice days that shift. These provide longer weekends that are not holidays. If these are on different days every year, you might get lucky and get a better rate on the weekend. Look at your children’s school calendar and plan ahead. That way when the 24-hour deal pops up, you are ready with all the needed information.
*Homeschooled advantage. If you homeschool your children then it doesn’t matter when you go on vacation. You can make the middle of January your winter break and take all of May and October off instead of spring and summer break. This kind of flexibility in your schooling schedule means that your vacation relies only on the working parent/s ability to get time off the job. That’s a great blessing for those of us that travel!
Tip 2: If you are a military spouse or active/retired duty member, 90% of the time your military discount cannot be beat. Great Wolf Lodge gives complimentary upgrades, discount food packages, and up to 30% off room rates year round. The only reason to hold off is to look at their twice (sometimes 3 times) a year 40% sale as mentioned above. These rooms fill up FAST so know your dates ahead of time.
*Be aware: because these rooms sell out, sometimes the military rate is better than the deal. Get the total package on the military rate, then price check it against the “deal” and see which is cheaper. Book the cheaper one!
Tip 3: Worst case scenario. If the website is down and you know the sale price is worth it, call them. The 1-800 number people are helpful, can give you the same deals as the website, and don’t cost anything extra. They will try and get you to add on packages (the website will do this too). If this happens tell them you want to make that decision later. You can add any of their good deals to your stay at any time up until you check in. The check-in people can add these deals. So know that there is no rush to this part of the decision. Save up and only get it if you really want it!
*If you fold under the pressure of their sales ads and add a package only to regret it later, do not worry. You can call them back at any time and cancel the package add-on free of charge. They want you to be happy!
Places like Great Wolf Lodge want your repeat business. They know if you are worried or unhappy you won’t come back. So they will do their best to make you LOVE your decisions. That includes great deals like 40% or a night stay at a significant discount. So enjoy! Look through all the deals, and make the best decision for you and yours!
